Mdou Unplugged – Exclusive Acoustic Show at Nefertiti

It’s a great honor to host another exclusive acoustic show with Mdou of Mdou Moctar (Niger, Africa). This is not a rehearsed show.

Psychedelic desert rock from Niger! Mdou has been described as the Jimi Hendrix of the Sahara, and recently the  album Afrique Victim was released, which, among other things, was awarded a well-deserved Best New Music stamp by Pitchfork. The career began with his music being spread as mp3s from mobile phone to mobile phone in his home country. Since then, the wildfire has never stopped, and the big international breakthrough came with 2019’s masterful Ilana (The Creator). Afrique Victim is in many ways a continuation and a refinement of the journey he has embarked on so far, and is, to say the least, a great achievement by a great artist.
